Bark Avenue Foundation Programs
Spay and Neuter Outreach
A crucial program to help end pet overpopulation – see Bark Avenue Foundation’s list of free or low cost spay and neuter services throughout Los Angeles. Bark Avenue Foundation’s approach to addressing the pet overpopulation crisis is twofold:
• We serve as a community resource and strive to educate and inform the public about the critical need for animals to be spayed and neutered in Los Angeles. Not only is it the law, but every altered dog or cat means 10-20 less puppies or 12 less kittens per litter.
• We provide transportation to low and no cost spay/neuter facilities throughout Los Angeles. We realize that many residents only have public transportation or work multiple jobs and don’t have time to access the various spay/neuter programs in our community.
Animal Adoptions
Experts estimate that as many as one million pets will be abandoned in the United States this year due to the home foreclosure crisis and economic downturn. For the past 8 years, Bark Avenue Foundation has worked with many shelters and rescuers to assist in helping abandoned dogs and cats find shelter, food, love and often times veterinary care until a home is found for each animal.
We currently assist many private rescue organizations and public shelters to help rescued animals find forever homes. Additionally, we plan high visibility, off-site adoption events for partner shelters throughout Los Angeles every month, bringing attention to this important cause.
You can help the rescue and rehoming effort in so many ways! Being a foster dramatically increases its chances of being adopted.
